Mike Pence (R-IN-6) responds to questions about the recent Indiana Supreme Court ruling regarding the right to reasonably resist an unlawful police entry into a home and about Article 11 Section 7 of the Indiana constitution which states “All bills or notes issued as money shall be, at all times, redeemable in gold or silver.”

Well, after his support for the “patriot” act, I was shocked to here Liberty minded responses to both questions.
Well done Mr. Pence.
Mike Pence wasn’t at the 4th amendment rally that was held at the State House. It was mostly organized by libertarians (small “l” and big “L”) and a few tea party types. In fact, I don’t remember Mike Pence saying anything about it at the time even though the ruling came in mid-May. It’s now August.
Now what would REALLY impress me is if Pence came out in favor of re-calling Justice Stevens. Of course, he won’t be doing that because Stevens was appointed to the court by Governor Daniels. That’s an action that could result in actual change. What he’s doing now is just pandering
Matt, your post is an example of what is wrong with some of my fellow conservatives. You didn’t know that Pence has already spoken out against the ruling. And even in responding to this video, you accuse him of “pandering” when he should be praised for saying the right thing.
It’s like a couple of fellow Tea Party members I was talking with last week that were considering Jim Wallace. I asked them if they knew that he thought defunding Planned Parenthood was “stupid” or if they knew that he wants to repeal property tax caps. They did not know. I asked if they knew he opposed cutting our income tax and that he wanted to increase spending on education. They did not know. All they knew is they disagreed with Pence on one issue. Just plain silly.
Paul is correct about the rally. Anyone who expects him to attend every rally is not living in reality.
Matt, I think you mean Justice Steven David of the Indiana Supreme Court. There is no “recall” of those judges. They sit for retention vote when first appointed in the next regular election then 10 years after that.
I’m sure Pence is totally against the ruling in Barnes v. State. I don’t blame him for not attending the rally. He has a job in D.C. to do. There’s a lot of issues on his plate. Barnes is just one of them. He probably has addressed the issue before.
